We are a busy and growing Tier One Automotive Supplier, specializing in metal stampings and welded assemblies. We are currently searching for a person to provide support to our materials department.  The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in an automotive manufacturing materials department.  The person we are looking for will be able to show progression and added responsibility over their career.  This position will involve the direct supervision of associates in the materials department, so a wide variety of experiences is beneficial. Some specific job duties include:
Coordinates all department activities necessary for maintaining accurate inventory levels, production scheduling, materials planning and customer service.
Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
Experience with Customer Portals
Maintain Customer Service Role
Provides necessary support for plant production.
Coordinates with other departments on new parts, sample parts and pilot parts to ensure timely delivery performance to customers.
Ensures all customer requirements are scheduled to the plant to ensure timely delivery.
Seeks out cost saving opportunities and coordinates changes with other managers to maximize these opportunities.
Adheres to and enforces, where applicable, MIOSHA and the company's safety rules.
Assists in the development of and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
Performs activities of workers supervised.
Punctual and regular attendance is required.
Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
Managerial
Directly supervises associates in the Materials Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include: interviewing employees; overseeing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
APICS or similar certification preferred
5 Years of Materials Experience (Shipping and Receiving)
Experience with LEAN Manufacturing philosophies
